Obama reveals 10 projects to stimulate employment

US President Barack Obama, striving to boost the economy, stated that there still is a lot of work to do and unveiled 10 projects which target on improving employment by generating or retaining over 600.000 jobs, according to the US government. Obama stated: “Our gauge of improvement is the improvement that the American people experience, until this improvement is stable and firm we will continue to move forward.”
Boost effectiveness
In February Obama initiated a $787 billion stimulus measure on which the Congress agreed, while the new projects focus on improving the effectiveness of this stimulus measure. A White House news release showed that the projects will be important attempts in order to generate or retain four times more workplaces than the number affected in the first period of 100 days after the rescue bill was approved as a law.
Accelerated recovery
The new plans are being considered as the start of a period of increasing Recovery Act activity by the government and also consist of funds for employing more teachers, creating health centers in 50 states, generating new services, improving highway locations and airports, upgrading medical facilities for veterans.
White House representatives stated yesterday that they are stimulated by easing job cuts. May proved 345.000 job losses, which is a record low since September and less than the estimations, according to the Department of Labor report of June 5.
Rising unemployment
However, unemployment increased to 9.4%, which surpassed the government estimation of 8%, when it urged Congress to legalize the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. David Axelrod, Obama´s senior adviser said: “All though recovering unemployment will need a lot of work, it seems that we are making progress”.

Committing funds
The progress report by Biden’s agency showed that in the first quarter, after Obama’s stimulus plan was approved by the democratic-dominated Congress, the administration apportioned approximately 11% of the emergency stimulus budgets.

New plans
The 10 new plans will be funded with the stimulus budgets and exists of employing or saving approximately 5.000 enforcement officials, creating 200 slop and water systems in countryside areas, initiating 125.000 summer work places for youngsters, creating building and probation places at military areas, the government announced.
